Coming from Lovable
Lovable is excellent at what it does — generating UI quickly from prompts. If you’re bumping up against its limits (complex logic, multi-session coherence, production-grade architecture), GSD gives you the structured execution layer that Lovable doesn’t provide.
What each tool gives you
Section titled “What each tool gives you”| Lovable | GSD + Claude Code | |
|---|---|---|
| Getting started | Instant — describe, generate | Local install, 5–10 minutes |
| Primary strength | AI-generated UI from prompts | Structured multi-session execution |
| Code control | Platform-managed | Yours, fully |
| Complex logic | Can struggle with depth | Claude Code handles it directly |
| Multi-session projects | Limited context continuity | Designed for this from day one |
| Verification | Visual review | Built-in gates at every stage |
| Customisation | Within the platform’s model | Unlimited — it’s just code |
The key differences
Section titled “The key differences”AI-generated UI vs structured execution. Lovable’s strength is generating interfaces from natural language descriptions — you describe what you want and it appears. GSD’s strength is structured execution of complex, multi-session development projects. They’re solving different problems.
Platform vs process. Lovable is a platform; GSD is a process layer on top of Claude Code. You own the environment, the code, and the decisions. That’s more responsibility, and more power.
Prompt vs plan. With Lovable, you describe what you want and it generates. With GSD, you write requirements, review a roadmap, and approve a plan before code is written. The extra upfront work pays off when your project spans multiple sessions and involves real complexity.
What to expect
Section titled “What to expect”If you’re used to Lovable’s speed of iteration, GSD will feel slower at first. The first session involves reviewing a structured plan rather than seeing code appear instantly. From session two onwards, the payoff is coherence: the AI knows what’s already built, what was decided, and what comes next — without you re-explaining it.
GSD is worth the adjustment if you’re building something with multiple features, real business logic, or anything that needs to survive session restarts intact.
Your recommended path
Section titled “Your recommended path”You’re coming from an AI-assisted builder background and want to build more complex software. That maps to Path 1 in Choose Your Path.
